Artist Statement
The creative process that I use when drawing and painting gives me insight into the inner connection with humanity and the impermanent nature of all phenomena. For me this creative process also functions as a bridge allowing me to explore and formulate methods to convey human conditions and emotions.
My subject themes reflect what I am experiencing at any given time. I often notice they mirror the stages of my own life. I find myself gravitating to the human figures in relation to the natural environment. I am fascinated by the unpredictability of working through the different stages in my paintings, each stage opens a multitude of directions and possibilities.
In my latest paintings, I have experimented with letters, words, phrases, languages, signs and colors.
These elements are symbolic signals of our thoughts and intentions and contain energy. We are sending out our thoughts and intentions at any given time even while sleeping, and I am fascinated by how these energies influence and dictate our life, our community, our planet and our universe.
